Wall Mask with Sgraffito

Join ceramic artist Pascale Wilson for a full day in the pottery studio to create your own wall-hung mask. Pascale creates character-rich artworks, combining simple forms with faces, patterns and bold colours to spark narratives. In this class, you will pinch, coil and sculpt a small wall mask, creating your own unique character, adding pattern and colour to the surface using slips and sgraffito. In the morning, you will be shown the fundamental techniques required to pinch and coil the basic mask shape and add hanging fixtures on the back. You will then sculpt and adapt the form to create a face, whether human, animal, hybrid or abstract! In the second part of the workshop you will be taught to use coloured slips and sgraffito to decorate your piece. Sgraffito allows for the creation of pattern with bold colour. Your piece will be glazed and fired after the session, will be ready to collect up to 6 weeks later. You will be contacted via email when your pots are ready to collect.
