Wax Carving and Design Workshop (Evenings)

Spend an evening exploring wax carving and sculpting with tutor Rebecca. Rebecca works across the different types of wax and has a fun approach to making. She will guide participants through carving with harder waxes (blue and green) and sculpting with softer waxes (pink and red). Bring a design idea or develop something in the session and aim to leave with a finished wax ready to cast into solid jewellery. You will learn about the different types of wax and how they work, what's best for signet rings and geometry and what is best for softer delicate shapes. Rebecca will also show participants how waxes come back from the casting house and advise on working with a casting house and how the process works. You can also learn about the difference between sand-casting and lost wax casting and how this might inform your design. We can cast and clean it up for a fee or you can cast and finish up in a drop in session, or if you make jewellery you're welcome to just come to play with wax and do the rest at home! This class is perfect for total beginners and experienced makers who want to deepen their knowledge of wax carving.
