Tuesday hand-building taster course, 3 weeks from October 6th 13.30- 16.00
A lovely intro course to discover the fun of working with clay slabs. This short course will explore how to use soft slabs to make a Tooth tumbler and a soap dish set. Using rolling guides to create a consistent slab, you will then measure, cut and form a soap dish, small trinket bowl and a tooth mug beaker. Using slabs is a great way to explore texture with clay. Texture can also be using with coloured slips, giving you the fun of using texture and colour together! We have range of texture rollers to create texture on your pieces, as well as textured fabrics, and plants for the garden that will be available for you to use. You can bring your own texture pieces (plants, flowers, lace or any other object that can be pressed into the clay) if you like, but we will have plenty for you to choose from. - A wide selection of tools to use - Unlimited clay, only keep what you want, we recycle any items that you don't want to keep. - Lots of guidance for beginners or less if you want space for creative freedom. - A wide selection of coloured slips and glazes made in-house. **Sustainable Practice:** At Bristol Pottery Workshops we prioritise sustainability! You can recycle clay an unlimited amount of times before it's fired, and so we charge for items separately to make sure that pots don't get left behind! Items are priced at £16 per kg (as some students make larger items than others) to cover our materials, firing and processing costs.
