Some experience helpful. Postures, breath focus, adaptive yoga with mindful approach. Yoga classes with Marian run in terms developing a theme of yoga practice throughout the term. You are welcome to come along and try the class before joining for the whole course. If you have limited experience with yoga, it might be helpful to have a 121 yoga lesson first to establish the foundations of yoga practice to help you get more out of the group classes. Please get in touch to find out more. A typical yoga class includes posture work (asana) which is done using the breath in a controlled way and a mindful focus. The viniyoga approach to yoga practice accommodates difference in age, mobility, flexibility and fitness. I will adapt and modify postures to suit each individual's needs and classes are smaller to enable this approach. I always encourage students to work safely taking into account any health issues or physical problems; this is an important aspect of all the work in the viniyoga tradition. The spirit of my teaching respects the difference in age, mental & physical health, culture, religion. Asana can bring about changes and awareness in the body & mind; you can expect improved flexibility and mobility from your practice. We work with both internal & external focus (bhavana) to bring about a greater awareness of the body and to help to focus the mind. We will do some seated breathing (pranayama) and a short meditation. We sometimes use sound which is included to help improve stamina of the breath and to bring about changes in the body.
