Pottery: Journey into Clay Fundamentals of Hand Building

This course will teach you three essential hand building techniques, pinching, coiling and slab building, which you can apply to making a variety of different ceramic pieces. You will be taught a different method each week and can make an array of things, from functional mugs, vases and bowls to more decorative pieces like animal sculptures or wall hangings. You will also be taught decorative techniques, including slip decorating, sgraffito and glazing. Feel free to bring your own ideas for inspiration, or just come with an open mind. You will be guided with demonstrations and given ideas and inspiration, but this is also a flexible class where you can adapt the techniques to make your own unique creations.
