Welcome to Bowlines Friday 9 – Sunday 11 July 2027: A brand-new, inspirational weekend for fiddle players to come together, develop their craft and discover new musical horizons. Based here at St George’s in the heart of Bristol, Bowlines offers a unique opportunity to explore six different fiddle traditions through specialist workshops led by tutors of an extraordinary level – both in their playing and in their ability to teach and inspire. Alongside the workshops, there’ll be late night sessions, conversations and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow fiddlers. Whether you’re looking to deepen your knowledge of a tradition or venture somewhere completely new, Bowlines is a chance to learn from some of the very best. Curated by Sam Sweeney, a visionary educator and leading light in the English traditional fiddle, St George’s is thrilled to host and co-found Bowlines. Fiddlers can expect to come away from the weekend with new technique, new insight, new inspiration, new repertoire and new friends.
