Whisky. Blues. Burns. Mischief.
Burns Night deserves more than one evening, so The Rhythm and Booze Project is throwing its own, a little late and a lot louder with 2 dates available on Thursday 28th January and Saturday 30th. Join the blues and whisky tasting duo for a night of raucous live blues, exceptional drams, and poetry from the Scottish Bard.
For the whisky lovers: an OPEN WHISKY BAR (you read that right) with a large selection of premium single malts. Your hosts Paul and Felipe are whisky professionals as well as musicians, and they'll guide you through what's in your glass. You'll leave knowing how to sound smart whenever you're drinking whisky for the rest of your life.
For the blues lovers: a gritty duo playing roots, folk, and blues up close, with hypnotic grooves and rowdy energy in the intimate event room at Bristol's best spirits shop, Spirited.
For Burns Night: poetry from the Bard, with veggie haggis and oatcakes to suit the occasion.
Paul and Felipe call it half gig, half tasting, and half house party. The maths doesn't work, the night does.

About The Rhythm and Booze Project
The Rhythm and Booze Project features Felipe and Paul, a duo fusing live music and whisky through gigs, tasting events, and multimedia experiences.
The project first took shape during a 2012 pilgrimage to the whisky capital of Islay, when Felipe and Paul played in bars and hotels in exchange for a meal, a bed, and healthy drams of whisky. Looking to replicate that experience the rest of the year, in 2018 they launched The Rhythm and Booze Project, with the goal of combining music and whisky in as many weird and wonderful ways as possible.
Regular collaborations since then, including tours in the UK, United States, and South America, draw on Felipe's and Paul's extensive background as professional touring musicians, event producers, and passionate fans of whisky in all forms.
As a musical outfit, the band incorporates roots, folk, and blues music in a uniquely gritty mix of its own, blending hypnotic grooves with raucous energy and irresistible showmanship.
For their whisky tasting events, Felipe and Paul merge performance, live music, and multi-sensory experiences. Past projects include building the world's first whisky cask bass drum using a barrel from the Lagavulin distillery, writing and performing their hit blues and whisky show '2 Guys, 3 Drams' at the Edinburgh Fringe, and performing at many whisky distilleries and festivals.
With five professional degrees between them, Felipe and Paul have an academic background to match. Felipe wrote his Master's thesis on sustainable distillation on Islay, conducting field interviews after Islay's Feis Ile whisky festival, while Paul has completed a PhD in the history of jazz drumming and the drum kit in New Orleans.
Felipe is also a leading writer about all aspects of whisky for top industry publications including the websites distiller.com and scotchwhisky.com, and also writes about whisky for Forbes.com. He won the 2022 Icons of Whisky Communicator of the Year award, and is also a Keeper of the Quaich.
