1 Year In Print (Portfolio Course)

Tutor: Jo Hounsome, Mondays 9.30am -12.30pm. This is a 1-year (30 week) course designed to give you a sustained and intensive period of study. It is an excellent opportunity to build a portfolio of work, to develop confidence and ideas in your own practice, and to learn new skills. This course is an introduction to the key areas of print and you will spend a term in each area - intaglio, screen printing, and relief. It is a practical, workshop based course with plenty of demonstrations and opportunities to experiment with different tools and materials. This course is delivered by specialist tutors who will introduce you to the exciting and wide-ranging possibilities of the printmaking process. You will gain experience working across a range of processes in a large, well equipped and established studio, using etching presses, screen beds and relief presses. This will ensure that you are working at a professional level. Experimentation and new ways of working will be encouraged so that you are able to achieve your creative potential. The course will also include contextual elements that will introduce you to the history of printmaking and provide you with an awareness of contemporary practice. It is designed for both beginners and for those with some experience. You may be new to printmaking and would like to have a taster of all the processes, or you may wish to expand your printmaking knowledge and technical skills. The course will end with a personal project and an exhibition - a group show in the studio open to family and friends.
