Listening Project

RWoB has a long history of breaking the silence around taboo issues by creating safe listening spaces where women discuss topics such as Violence Against Women and Girls, the impact of war on women, and the experiences of disabled women. These spaces have inspired powerful resources such as The Empty Seat on the Bus film, which highlights racism, and Nobody Ever Asked, a film created by the Disabled Listening Group that explores the hidden impact of disability caused by war. Through these initiatives, peer-to-peer support networks have flourished, empowering women to become community champions. Our Community Listening Project creates a safe and welcoming space for RWoB members to come together and share their experiences, concerns, and worries about the current hostile immigration environment and community tensions. The RWoB team facilitate safe spaces where members can access vital information provided by the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI). Each term will also include a quarterly Open Day, bringing together the wider community to strengthen connections and promote community cohesion.
