David A Bailey: Artist Talk
David A Bailey joins us at Martin Parr Foundation to give an artist talk on his 40-year journey as a photographer and cultural animateur. With a career spanning over four decades, David began his journey deeply rooted in photography, exploring visual storytelling and documenting diverse narratives. This formative period laid the foundation for his ongoing engagement with visual art which would establish him as both a photographer and a cultural animateur. Over the years David's practice expanded beyond photography into broader forms of cultural production as founder and Artistic Director of ICF International Curators Forum. He became actively involved in cultural production, curating exhibitions, and developing projects that engage with wider social and artistic contexts. As a cultural animateur, his influence extends into community and institutional spheres, contributing significantly to the shaping of contemporary culture. Join David as he gives an overview of his career, throughout which he has bridged the gap between photographic practices and cultural production. His enduring commitment underscores the dynamic relationship between artistic creation and cultural engagement. Followed by questions from the floor and a book signing.
