Beginner's Sewing

A complete beginner's guide to machine sewing. This four week course is divided into two halves. In the first half of the course you will learn how to thread a sewing machine, build confidence and learn the techniques needed to complete your first sewing project. In the second half you will sew a lined tote bag with a zipped pocket from fabrics of your choice. Week 1: Learn how to wind a bobbin, thread a sewing machine, sew basic seams - troubleshoot basic problems. Week 2: Grow your confidence learning techniques needed to sew a zip or a button hole. Learn about fabric choices and choose suitable fabric for your tote bag project. Week 3 & 4: Cut and complete a lined tote bag with a zipped pocket. In the last week there will be time to ask questions and discuss what project you would like to do next. MATERIAL COSTS ARE NOT INCLUDED - WE OFFER 10% OFF ALL PURCHASES IN THE SHOP. This course is aimed at adults; if you are looking for sewing for under 16's please call the shop to discuss. Refunds are given on any cancellations made 7 days before the start of a course less the 10% booking fee. After that we can only give a refund if the place is resold.
