History of Art: 20th Century

We include the Futurists' obsession with speed and mechanisation, the pure coloured geometries of Mondrian; the British continuity from Post-Impressionism through Camden Town and the Bloomsbury group; Surrealist dreamscapes and the postwar developments of Pollock, Rothko, Warhol and Lichtenstein. Led by celebrated art historian & social historian Andrew Foyle, this course is the third in his History of Art series, charting a timeline of European and North American Art from 1900 - c.1970. As well as being inspired, you will also leave with a strong understanding of Western Art throughout the 20th Century, and will be able to recognise the distinctive styles of the key players in each movement.
