Intermediate 5 Week Course - Nov to Dec 2026

Ready to take your pottery a little further? Our Intermediate 5 Week Course is for anyone who has already completed a beginner course with us or elsewhere and wants to build on their existing skills, confidence and ideas. Over five weeks, you'll have the opportunity to develop your making with more direction, exploring deeper into the nuances of throwing while learning how to take your own ideas further. It's a chance to move beyond the basics, experiment with your making and start developing your own style and approach to clay. Whether you've taken a course at The Community Pottery before or have experience from another studio, this course is designed to meet you where you are and help you progress. No previous experience at The Community Pottery is required, but you should have completed a beginner pottery course or have equivalent experience. At a minimum you should already be able to wedge clay, throw and trim pottery already. Together we will learn how to throw taller, learn how to be more efficient at throwing and understand how to both make your own glaze and how to apply glazes safely and effectively. Come with an idea of what you want to make. Rather than having to throw a set of shapes at random, we want you to challenge yourself to throw with intention and have a clearer idea of what forms you want to aim for.
