Pie, Mash & Tales with Jonathan Webb
Jonathan Webb has what you might describe as three careers at the very top of his respective fields. Add to this a wonderful wit that only comes from a life in rugby and surgery and you have the ingredients for a fabulous Pie Mash & Tales evening. Jonathan was an England rugby international, winning no less than two Five Nations Grand Slams and playing in the 1991 Rugby World Cup Final. (And played for Bristol Rugby whilst completing his medical studies at University of Bristol!). He then built a distinguished career as an orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in keyhole surgery and knee ligament reconstruction here in Bristol. In addition, today he has a role at the very highest level of the sport: he is Vice-Chair of World Rugby, helping shape the future of rugby globally. He also chairs the RFU's Concussion Risk Management Group, so he finds himself at the centre of one of the most important debates facing the sport. But what makes Jonathan particularly interesting is the way those three worlds -- elite sport, medicine and leadership -- have continually influenced each other. So, we're going to hear about all three. What an evening in store….
