Workshop
A second opportunity to watch the National Emergency Briefing film presented by Chris Packham, followed by a facilitated discussion. An evening facilitated by Bristol Buddhist Centre's very own Shantigarbha, coordinator of the Triratna Earth Sangha and author of The Burning House: A Buddhist response to the climate and ecological emergency. We will be watching the National Emergency Briefing film, presented by Chris Packham. Some background: last November, ten of the UK's leading experts briefed an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media. The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy. After we have watched the film, Shantigarbha will facilitate a discussion exploring Buddhist responses to these climate and ecological crises. This screening is for Buddhists of all traditions. We will start with a brief guided reflection and finish with Transference of Merits. The climate and nature crises are a source of concern for everyone who cares for the Earth, our common home. It is also a topic that has the power to bring together Buddhists of all traditions in partnership and collaboration. After the screening we will discuss what needs to happen next, personally and collectively.
