Development Support for New and Established Music Subject Leads

CPD. The content of this training will enable you to lead music effectively and inclusively at your school. We will support you with: Understanding everything the Bristol Beacon Music Education Hub can do to support you and your school (from instrument lessons to curriculum to events). Helping to answer questions from 'Which year group should have WCET and what should I choose?' to 'My school tells me I need to show progression and assessment - how do I do this?' and much more! We have a fantastic addition to this year's training: Music for the (neuro)diverse classroom. Delivered by Jenni Ventura - specialist consultant in inclusive music practice. Picture a classroom where children sing, move, play instruments and conduct, all within one cohesive musical activity. Inclusive music-making can be simple and fun while meeting a wide range of needs by its very nature. In this session, we take a look at some of the common challenges faced by young people in today's classrooms, such as information processing, emotional dysregulation and focus, and how teaching strategies for these translate into musical activities. We will work through some simple, take-away, modular musical activities that can be adapted to any primary or special school setting, including SEMH and PMLD. We will use instruments, voices, gesture and visual cues to construct multi-modal activities, that can be delivered with any level of musical experience. There will of course be plenty of fresh ideas and takeaways you can implement immediately in the classroom too!
