Composed with nothing but manuscript paper and pencil, the trio's set captures wide-open horizons and restless adventure, blending lyricism with fearless improvisation. The second set belongs to Mark Lockheart's new trio, Shapeshifter. Known for pushing British jazz forward, Lockheart and his band shift fluidly through jazz, rock and free improvisation, mixing original music with bold takes on Bill Frisell and Joe Henderson.
