Workshop
Join Bristol Broomworks for a workshop where you come away with your own enchanted broom! Join Bristol Broomworks in the stunning Anglican Chapel as you gather together to weave handbrooms in this intimate four hour workshop. Students will learn the fundamentals of heritage handcrafted brooms (a pre-industrial heritage craft that uses no machinery and no electricity), as well as the processing and handling of fibre, learning about the uses of various twine types, UK materials resources, plus some broom history and lore. You'll choose your twine colour, and adornment: a crystal, pendant, or dried botanical (provided by me or bring your own), PLUS learn to weave the grip of the broom using the hurl. Please note: broom making is a surprisingly physical craft requiring strength and dexterity in both hands and feet. Be prepared to engage your core, hands, arms, legs and back for extended periods. Broom making can be a real work-out!
