The Incomer

Writer-director Louis Paxton's debut feature sees a nervy council official attempt to evict two siblings who have never had any human contact from their outside world. Raised on a remote Scottish island, oddball siblings Isla and Sandy (Gayle Rankin and John Hannah) spend their days hunting, squabbling and telling stories. But when nervy council official Daniel (Domhnall Gleeson) arrives on the island intent on moving them along, the pair must wrestle with the threat and exciting possibilities of the mainland. Crammed with intriguingly strange characters and performed with aplomb by a wonderful cast, this terrific debut from director Louis Paxton fuses surreal humour, warmth and pathos.
