Workshop
Some people come to All Levels Pottery never having touched clay. Others come back term after term, working on their own ideas and projects. What they share is a Wednesday morning in the studio, time to make, and tutor, Erika Faggiani close at hand whenever they need her. This six-session course welcomes complete beginners and improvers alike. Class sizes are kept small (maximum 7 students) so Erika can give everyone focused, personalised support, whether you're finding your feet with clay for the first time or developing your own practice at your own pace. For complete beginners, each session builds confidence alongside skill. You'll start with foundational handbuilding techniques - pinching, coiling, and slab work - before getting a taste of the wheel: centering, pulling walls and forming simple shapes. Along the way you'll explore surface decoration using texture, slips and oxides, finishing with a dedicated glazing session so you leave with completed, fired work to take home. For improvers, the course is a chance to work more independently. You'll set your own direction - refining your throwing, experimenting with form and surface, or tackling more ambitious pieces - with Erika on hand for guidance, troubleshooting and a push when you need one. Erika runs her own ceramic business and studio. She brings that working practice into her teaching. Many students return to this course term after term; go deeper into a technique, take on more complex work, or simply to keep a regular practice going. Returning students are welcomed back at whatever stage they're at and encouraged to set their own goals.
