Artist Niki Groom transforms Centrespace Gallery into a giant sketchbook, displaying illustrated stories of people she's met. For the duration of Searching for the Future: A decade of reportage illustration, artist Niki Groom will be transforming Centrespace Gallery into a giant sketchbook. The illustrated stories of people she's met will adorn the walls, resulting in a colourful display of community. Expect to see life-size paintings of dancers & musicians, and a celebration of events that bring people together, such as festivals, protests, sport and food. Since documenting sensitive scenes at the Calais 'Jungle' for Choose Love in 2016, Niki has specialised in reportage illustration for the humanitarian and cultural sectors - creating impactful imagery that allows people to remain anonymous. She is a trusted member of the local community & has experience working with Refugee Women of Bristol, Super Culture, Diverse Artists Network and Bristol Refugee Festival. Alongside the artwork will be a series of workshops and talks around creativity and community, a sketching table, and a shop selling original artwork and illustrated products.
