Music
Sufi music meets blues-inflected North African tunes. If one instrument evokes the enticing mystery of the North African desert it must be the loud, the Arabic cousin of the lute played in bursts of improvisational runs between the languid and elegant melody. Moroccan oud-player Soufian Saihi brought his skills to the UK where he has progressed from street busking to the concert hall thanks to his remarkable musicianship. Ricardo de Noronha is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, that plays Middle-Eastern percussion and makes his own ethnic flutes based on the Slovakian shepherd's flute, the Fujara. Since the 90s he recorded several world music albums with award-winning bands both in Portugal and the UK.
