Seven-piece band pays tribute to the birth of Ska music in Jamaica - Vintage Ska tunes and their Shuffle Blues, Jazz and boogie influences. The name Port-O-Ska is inspired by the 1950's Jamaican Jazz label Port-O-Jazz. Dedicated to creating and interpreting the 1960's sound of the Skatalites and their original influences, Port-O-Ska also references musical greats Ernest Ranglin, Don Drummond, Alton Ellis, Roland Alphonso, Prince Buster, Oswald 'Baba' Brooks, Rico Rodriguez and other pioneers who went on to help shape Jamaica's incredible musical heritage and worldwide influence. Backed by rhythm section brothers Benji and Sam Muscat, double bass and drums (Baila La Cumbia, Dundundun and Lund Quartet respectively). The band also features Bristol top musicians Eric Arthur on piano (The Slimline Shufflers), Jonny Crew on electric guitar (The Gentle Hooligans), Dan Noble on tenor sax (Ambling Band, That There!), Alfie Grieve on trumpet (Snazzback) and Joe Bradford on Trombone (Dennis Rollins, Tammy Payne). Followed by DJs til late!
