Inspired by No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre, this 5-day intensive explores connection, belonging, judgement, and what it means to be truly seen. Five souls. One room. An eternity suspended between heaven and hell. Together, we'll devise Dead End -- a brand-new long-form structure: a sustained monoscene stretched across thousands of years. Lost in limbo, our characters cannot leave. Time shifts. Secrets surface. Love, regret, resentment and hope slowly rise to the surface, transforming relationships and determining fate. This is improvised theatre rooted in patience, emotional truth, and ensemble sensitivity. Craft-focused and performance-driven, we'll work on naturalism, intimacy, nuanced scenework, silence, stagecraft, physical ensemble movement, and sustaining tension across long-form group scenes. The aim is to balance improvisational freedom with theatrical discipline -- creating work that feels both spontaneous and fully staged. Designed for intermediate to advanced improvisers and actors ready to deepen their theatrical sensibility, move beyond game-driven improv, and commit to focused, ensemble-led work. You'll have the chance to premier this format as part of a showcase on the Friday night on the Bristol Improv Theatre stage. You should be comfortable with long-form and collaborative scene practice.
