Workshop, Family
For ages 8-12 Come and join us in the October half term holidays for two days of creative theatre play! In just two days you'll create a never-before-seen play which you can then perform to family and friends. We'll combine your ideas (weird and wacky ones encouraged!) to create something truly unique. At acta Community Theatre, we have always used theatre and games as a tool to build confidence, connection and community. These sessions are an opportunity to create an original performance made by the young people who will have complete ownership of what they do and can be proud of what they have achieved. A typical day will begin with a check-in circle, followed by some physical games and ice-breakers. Once everyone is warmed up, we'll work on improvisation exercises which will help build the young people's confidence and self-esteem (all while being fun!). We've worked this way with young people for around forty years now - and time and time again we've seen this methodology creates a safe and supportive environment so that the group will develop soft-skills such as co-operative working, communication, creative thinking, problem solving and building initiative. We'll also work with costumes, props, scenery, lights, and music to develop the work into a performance for friends and family. We invite family and friends to watch the show on the 27th October at 2:30pm in the acta Theatre. Please note: lunch is not provided for this activity - we ask everyone arrives with a packed lunch.
