Hi, I'm Sam.
I live in Bedminster. A while back I wanted to know what was on near me but all the websites either didn't cover my interests, only showed events in town or were hard to use.
So I built Bristol Local: one place for everything happening locally, from your local bar to the community theatre, with tools to help you find what's relevant to you.
I hope it helps people get out more with friends/family and smaller venues get people in the door.
How does it work?
- I find the venues.
- Every week it reads their events pages.
- It all gets tidied up.
- You come find what you want or get an email with my top picks.
How does it make money?
It doesn't right now! I work on it on my weekends and pay quite a lot to maintain it.
My dream is to be able to work on it full time and re-invest any profits back into local venues or interesting events. Current thinking is that would be via ads/venues promoting their events, all clearly marked out. But open to ideas!
